How are the finalists chosen? Is it fair?
There is an independent, multi-faith judging panel, including at least one short film professional. We are interested in all religious (and non-religious) perspectives and wish to celebrate the highest calibre of filmmaking. As with any film festival, the panel’s decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
Do all finalists receive an award?
At the Campfie Awards screening, 8 short films will be screened - these are called the 'finalists'. Only 5 of these films will receive an award.
The additional 3 short films will be nominated as having received either a 'special mention' or the 'runners-up' to the main Campfire Award.
If I am selected as a finalist, what happens then?
- You will be notified in the week ending October 9
- You must send a cinema-quality screening copy of your film to us before October 23 to be entitled to your 'finalist' status.
What format is acceptable for the screening?
- DigiBetacam (recommended)
- DVCam (on miniDV tape)
- BetacamSP
- DVD-ROM with QuickTime files
(H.264 encoding at 30mbit/s or greater, audio 48kHz)
Unfortunately, standard DVD (mpg2 encoding) is not acceptable. Remember, your film will be projected in a cinema and we want to present it in the best way possible.
What happens with other films not on the site - is Campfire no longer an online film festival?
Campfire is emerging as a leader of offline-online film festival hybrids. The diagram here (above) shows simply how both work together, offering filmmakers ‘the best of both worlds’.
What other benefits are there?
